Dress Codes for Men: Part Three – Business Casual and Business/Informal

This post will focus on the middle of the men’s fashion scale with Business Casual and Business/Informal wear.

Business Casual
There is no generally accepted definition of business casual wear. The interpretation of business casual differs widely among organizations and is often a cause of confusion.

Business casual typically means not wearing neckties or suits, but wearing instead collared shirts, and more country trousers (not black, but more relaxed, including things such as corduroy).

Business/Informal
Informal attire, also called international business attire or Western business attire, is typified by a suit and necktie, or a polo shirt and dress pants for men. It is more presentational than semi-casual/business casual, but offers more room for personal expression than semi-formal dress. Informal should not be confused with casual.
